A sturdy thread holds the key moments of Ashley Rowe’s nearly-a-decade-long practice together. Before the launch of that breakout denim collection in 2016, her vision carefully wove its way through various internships, a small debut collection, and a fateful road trip where she fell in love with a place that now resonates in everything she creates.

Born and raised in Toronto, Ashley Rowe splits her time between Canada and Marfa, Texas. It was in Marfa where Ashley’s unshakeable vision was truly realized—entirely hers after two years of teaching herself to sew and make her own patterns. The first pieces to reveal her now-tangible point of view riffed off of each other; the silhouette of a cropped and boxy denim tee, for example, was elongated to make a dress, that dress was then enhanced by a wide funnel neck, with another version featuring long sleeves—together, a versatile range of complementary pieces.

The brand now embodies the spirit of the long haul and respect for all things enduring, with a tight collection of garments, in hard-wearing fabrics like raw canvas and denim, crafted to last and become more personal and beautiful with wear. Color is important but used in clean monotone or painterly combinations.

Ashley Rowe has been carried worldwide—at Beams, Need Supply, Selfridges, Tenoversix, Totokaelo, and others—with a brick-and-mortar location in Marfa from 2017 to 2020 alongside a small Los Angeles shop in 2019. AshleyRowe.com is now the primary retail destination for the brand, offering signature items and exclusives like sewing, downloadable patterns, and limited run t-shirts that aren’t available anywhere else.
